Caucasian Red Deer Sock Kit
Designed by Irene Waggener to raise awareness of the Caucasian Red Deer and its reintroduction to the Armenian landscape, these cosy socks are worked from the toe upwards in three shades of our Ram Jam Sport; two natural sheep shades and one naturally dyed by Julia Billings of Woollenflower.
Colourwork patterns feature the deer themselves, a hoof-print inspired motif and chevron bands, all of which are easy to adapt to fit your personal foot and leg size as you follow a traditional sock pattern taught to Irene by local shepherds during her travels in the High Atlas Mountains. There is an option in the dropdown menu to order Irene's book, Keepers of the Sheep containing essays and patterns from and about the High Atlas region at a special price when purchasing the kit.
Your sock kit includes:
A printed pattern and essay booklet + Ravelry download code
2 skeins of Ram Jam Sport in shade 2 Mid Grey
1 skein of Ram Jam Sport in shade 0 Natural White
½ skein of Ram Jam Sport in shade Equinox
£5 from the sale of each kit is donated to World Wildlife Fund Armenia who are running a reintroduction programme for these beautiful and historically important deer.
We are thrilled to support this project and thank you for your support of it.
