Woolgathering by Patti Smith

£10.00

The beautifully presented, hardback reissue of Woolgathering by punk icon, poet and artist, Patti Smith, is a memoir flitting between vignettes from her childhood, to those from her early twenties, and reflection back on them as she 'gathers the wool of  her memories'. Originally completed in 1992 on Smith's 45th birthday and published in a slim volume by Hanuman Books, this new edition by Bloomsbury includes additional written content by Smith along with her illustrations and photographs. It is a delightful, insightful and inspiring volume by a hugely-talented woman who is also known to be a keen knitter.

In this, luminous memoir, Patti Smith revisits the most sacred experiences of her early years, with truths so vivid they border on the surreal. The author entwines her childhood self - and its 'clear, unspeakable joy' - with memories both real and envisioned from her twenties on New York's MacDougal Street, the street of cafés.

Woolgathering was completed on Patti Smith's 45th birthday and originally published in a slim volume by Raymond Foye's Hanuman Books. Twenty years later, Bloomsbury is proud to present it in a much augmented edition, featuring a new introduction, new pieces, as well as material that was omitted from the book's first printing, including new photographs and illustrations.

Woolgathering is presented in hardback with a beautifully illustrated dust jacket all printed in the UK. It comprises 80 pages and is illustrated with black and white photographs throughout.
